Synopsis
Poet LEE Yong-han became enthralled by stray cats living in his neighborhood. Cats like to stay in their territory so he could see them often and as he recorded their daily lives in pictures, he gave them names such as ’Bessie’ and ‘Blossom’. The pictures were published in a book entitled ‘Bye Kitty, and Thank You’.
I am a commercial film director. I stumbled across the poet’s book in the library and became interested in stray cats. There are a lot of stray cats in my neighborhood. I capture their lives on film. Giving them names like ‘Darth Snooze’, ‘Sweetness’ and ‘Thundercat’ and giving them food and water, I felt a change in myself.
LEE Yong-han moved to Yangpyeong and took a cat with him. And he meets more in his new town. I learned while filming that many people care for the stray cats and give them food and I asked for interviews with them.
Director's Note
Stray cats living on the cold asphalt of the city. They live by digging through the garbage that we throw out.
A poet living in Ilsan unexpectedly encounters some strays and preserves the meetings in photographs. Also, a man living in Seoul. I’m an ad director filming strays in my neighborhood.
This film is the report on each man’s take on stray cats. A film based on the idea that “People live on the street. And cats do too.”
