Youngran (58) has spent her life devoted to her family, but quietly begins chasing her dream of becoming a senior model. Then everything hits at once ??a cervical cancer diagnosis, her son's betrayal, her husband's indifference ??and her dream starts to crack. Yet she refuses to quit, and after surgery, walks into the audition alone. When her heels slip off mid-runway, she keeps walking, barefoot, moving every person in the room. Age, wounds, and prejudice are no match for a woman who refuses to give up.
I wanted to cheer for someone like Youngran. In a world where speaking your dream makes you a joke, and stating your age draws a line ??I wanted to tell the story of those who try anyway. Not glamorous, not perfect, but walking forward even barefoot.
Jeon Dasol (b. 1991) graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in English Language & Literature and Cultural Contents, and completed her M.F.A. in Film Acting at Konkuk University's Graduate School of Art & Design. Her short film Idol (2024) earned the Special Jury Award at the Seoul Hangang International Film Festival and won multiple awards across prominent international festivals including Cannes, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Athens. In 2026, she directs Beautiful Youngran, produced by Three Pines Studio, a work exploring a middle-aged woman's journey of self-realization.
